Our association with Jamie Ross came about around 2 years after we had a new house built on a rural block of land out of Cambridge in December 2022.

From the day we moved in we had septic tank issues which prevented us from flushing the toilet and washing. Not what you expect or want from a brand new home.
The drainage firm that did the new installation, revisited a number of times and carried out alterations to allow us to flush toilets etc, but we still had to get a septic tank firm in 3 times in the first year to suck out the septic tank. This was a very costly exercise just to allow you to live normally.

We had grey water coming up through our lawn and a putrid smell lingered around the septic tank in Summer.

Tired of getting nowhere with the drainage firm that installed it, in December 2024 we called in Jamie Ross of Tee Drainage, to see if he would be interested in having a look at the problem and be able to come up with a solution.

Jamie turned up promptly, as promised, something you can't get from many contractors nowadays, and investigated what was on site, found what the problem was and how to rectify it.
Jamie explained simply and clearly what the issue was and came up with a simple plan to remedy it. As promised, he supplied a written quote detailing the work to be carried out, materials used and a cost to carry out the work.

His price was very reasonable compared to estimates we had been given by other drainage contractors.

Once the building consent had been issued to allow the remedial work to proceed, we contacted Jamie who gave us a date when he could start the work.

In February 2025 the relocation of the septic tank drainage field lines began and was completed the following day. Both Jamie and his staff member worked tirelessly and with precision to get the drainage field in the ground.

On completion the work site was left immaculately clean and level, ready for us to sow grass seed for a new lawn.

We found Jamie to be honest and informative in his dealings with us, the District Council and the Geotech Engineer.
The septic tank field lines installed by Jamie have functioned reliably since he installed them and now that the grass lawn has grown you wouldn't know we have had a new field installed.

Even better still is there is no smell now.

Overall it was a quality installation carried out by Jamie. We would thoroughly recommend Jamie Ross and Tee Drainage to anyone and would use him again, without hesitation, if we had any drainage work required to be done.

I needed to replace the existing soak holes for a house that were put there in the year dot.
Jamie met me at the house, he explained what needed to be done and gave me an indicative price.
A day or two later a quote arrived via email : it laid out the work (re our discussions) and the materials along with the quote.
A date was set, work was completed and the site cleaned at the end of the job.

What do I like about these people :
There’s no bullshit.
They say they’re going to do something and they do it.
They do it on time.
They clean up after them.

Many would say : that’s what you’d expect from any job.
The reality is it is not like that today.
Some tradespeople take shortcuts, pull ‘fast ones’ and use inferior materials.

Competition for work is supposed to create a more efficient market and benefit the consumer.
It don’t !

Being new to home ownership I was a bit unsure about how to go about getting my water problem fixed with no idea of what it would cost, how long it would take etc.

I found Jamie really great to deal with, he showed a lot of patience with my questioning and indecisiveness as he talked through options.

I just wanted to say how impressed we are with the drainage job that was done at our place. Jamie and his Dad arrived at the time they said they would, got the job done in no time, took away all the excess dirt with them and left my stone garden in better shape than they found it!

Not only that, but while they were working on the drain I had plugged an extension cord in for them, then half an hour or so later I decided to take my dogs for a walk. I went outside and said I was off with the dogs and would be back soon.. On my arrival back at the house the men were sitting outside waiting for me, they had finished the job but did not leave my property as they didn't want to leave it unlocked while I was away!

Thank you Jamie. This job was so big it was on the couldn't be done list. Jamie had a look and had a plan, after just over a day of intense grafting he did the impossible and even finished off by cleaning up the area where a big pile of dirt had been (without breaking a blade of grass). It is with pleasure I write to provide testimony for Graham and Jamie Ross of Tee Drainage Ltd of Hamilton.

Graham started his drainage business in 1984 and during the next twenty years whilst I was involved with selling and constructing Jennian Homes in Hamilton and throughout the Waikato, Graham completed 90% of our drainage work.

Like everything in the building industry drainage has got more complex with twice the fittings in almost every house and a huge proportion of the new houses being rural based requiring a complete installation of systems and storm water tanks.

Even in the early days with our cross lease dwellings some of our drainage works were extensive.

At our busiest time Jennian Homes Waikato were completing over 125 homes per annum.

We would have 43 homes under construction and Graham kept up with a new house every two days. You had to be organized, efficient and well priced to remain a contractor with Jennian Homes and Graham has been their nearly thirty years. This in itself speaks volumes.

I take this opportunity to wish Jamie every success as he takes over the helm.

Jamie is a good worker with a positive attitude and has been working with Graham for more than ten years.

Having recently built our new home in the country we experienced a compliance matter with our septic and effluent field. Through no fault of ours the system was installed inside the minimum distance from the neighbouring property. After much debate the engineer agreed to move the effluent field at his cost to ensure compliance. It was at this point Jamie and his father Graham were contracted to move the field. The job was a simple reinstall job using the same material, as instructed by the engineer.

A few months later we noticed the field was ineffective and advised Jamie. Jamie and his father immediately responded and re-laid some of the field to correct the problem.

Six months later the same issue arose again. This time more serious, again I contacted Jamie who in turn engaged the engineer. After much discussion and debate it was determined the materials the engineer had advised to use were not of the standard required.

Given all the hassle and poor advice by the engineer Jamie gave me his word he would correct the problem at no cost to us. Jamie was true to his word and has subsequently fixed the problem at his own cost (time and materials).

I personally would not hesitate to recommend Jamie and Tee Drainage to others, their work standard and belief in honouring what is right is a testament to his business ethic.
